Are you concerned about how these changes will affect your business?

As the excitement for the upcoming Olympic Games builds, French transport and delivery companies face the challenge of navigating the anticipated roadblocks and detours that could disrupt routine operations. With the potential for regular A-B routing times to increase by nearly two hours, efficient planning and even upfront simulation have become crucial.

During the Olympic period, daily route disruptions are expected, making it challenging to maintain timely and reliable service. How will your company adapt its operational strategies to handle these fluctuations? The need for a dynamic approach to route optimization has never been more critical.

Based on the developer components in PTV Developer, you can now calculate, simulate, and visualize these temporary restrictions on the map and check whether they may affect your routes. In addition, the simulator dynamically calculates the best scenarios and alternative routes that avoid roads with reserved lanes. Just enter your start point and the stops!

In the free route simulator you can see:

The location of competition sites

The competition sites will primarily focus on:

  • Central Paris, including Concorde, Trocadéro, Hôtel de Ville, Invalides, Eiffel Tower, and the Seine riverbanks for the opening ceremonies.
  • Various stadiums and event locations on the outskirts of Paris, such as Zénith, Bercy, and Roland Garros.
  • Seine-Saint-Denis, particularly the Olympic Village and Stade de France.
  • Several dispersed locations across the Île-de-France region, including Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, and Hauts-de-Seine.

Security Perimeters

Authorities have established security perimeters around competition venues, categorized by colors for safety reasons.

  • Blue zones are designated as no-transit areas.
  • Red zones are restricted to motorized vehicles unless they have special authorization and an appropriate QR-code.
  • Red zones function similarly to pedestrian areas due to these restrictions.
  • Both blue and red zones are time-dependent:
  • They activate 2 hours and 30 minutes before the start of the first event each day.
  • They deactivate 1 hour after the last event of the day.

Custom Road Attributes scenario

Visualize these temporary restrictions on the map and check whether they may affect your own routes. In addition, the showcase proposes alternative routes that avoid roads with reserved lanes.

Custom Road Attributes could be used with Data API to model traffic restrictions which are not – or not yet – available in the standard map data. It also shows how these restrictions can be taken into account in Routing API and combined with statistical and real-time traffic (i.e. using the Realistic Traffic Mode) to estimate their impact on routes.

Our 2024 Olympic Game Simulator is the perfect illustration of our expertise built on 40-years of experience in next-generation algorithmic components for transportation and logistics. With this, we rise to the occasion of this international event by helping companies anticipate and be ready to deliver without delay.
