The Paris 2024 Olympic Games

In a few months, France will host the Olympic Games, followed by the Paralympic Games starting August 28. From July 1st to September 15th, traffic lanes in Paris and its suburbs will be partially or completely closed due to sports events. Traffic constraints that pose difficulties for deliveries, as explained by Sébastien Beolet, software development manager at PTV Logistics: "Under normal circumstances, traffic is already challenging for companies delivering in the Île-de-France region. Due to the organization of sports events during the Olympics, which will take place at numerous sites, 185 km of lanes will be exclusively reserved for accredited vehicles: emergency services, public transport, taxis, security, and the organizing committee, to ensure their circulation under optimal conditions during the games. If companies do not anticipate these additional constraints, many will not be able to fulfill their deliveries within the contractual deadlines."

The free route simulator combines several APIs: Data API for access to scenarios modeling Olympic lanes, Routing API for route calculations using this scenario, and Vector Maps API for map display. More than just a mapping platform to visualize restricted routes, the digital tool is based on years of expertise in developing APIs by PTV Logistics. It enables users to estimate the potential impact of Olympic lanes on a given route and dynamically suggests alternative routes to avoid them. These APIs can be integrated into business software of shippers, carriers, and software publishers on the market (ERP, TMS, DMS, FMS...), thus multiplying their potential. This route simulator can also be implemented and offered on partner simulators to their clients for the Olympics.
